The Funny Car Chaos series concludes its 2020 Championship Tour presented by Red Line Shirt Club and Mears Mazda Volvo this Friday and Saturday at Alamo City Motorplex outside San Antonio, Texas. The season finale will cap off a challenging, yet amplifying effort for the series to push through the obstacles of the pandemic we have all faced this year. At the World Finals, Funny Car Chaos is upping the payouts for its sixteen qualifiers which will now top $30,000 total and pay the ‘A’ Field winner $7,500 and ‘B’ Field winner $5,000. Without a doubt, this is icing on the cake for the passionate racers in this series and adds excitement to what is sure to be a thrilling weekend of flopper racing in Texas.
“Our racers, sponsors and fans have stuck with us though this unpredictable year and we are blessed to be able to not only complete our season but boost the payout for our final event. We’ve lost an event, re-scheduled many, but pushed through and have welcomed 51 funny car teams to our events this year while seeing record setting crowds in the stands. With the support of Red Line Shirt Club, Mears Mazda Volvo, Spell Concrete & Paving Services, Best of Texas BBQ Sauce, Dooley & Sons Hot Rod Shop, Rodak’s Custom Coffee, AlkyDigger, O’Reilly Auto Parts, Littlefield Blowers, S&W Race Cars and Taylor Motorsports Products we are able to not only increase the event payout for the season finale but also still pay our $10,000 end of the year Championship payout to our top five points finishers. We’ll be dishing out over $40,000 this weekend and it feels great to be able to honor our payouts to these racers who have shown such great support of this series,” says series President Chris Graves.
Chris Schneider driven “Brutus”
This no rules funny car tour has proven a magic formula welcoming all funny cars with zero restrictions on engine combination or body style, while providing exciting side by side drag racing entertainment. Defending series Champion Ken Singleton will clinch is 2020 title defense by simply attending the race this weekend. There will be no points pressure for the “High Risk” team from Oklahoma, but plenty of pressure from the competition as over twenty cars from six states are ready to rumble. Allan Middendorf’s “American Outlaw” Illinois based fuel flopper will make its first appearance of the season after an intense Championship battle with Singleton last year. The John Troxel owned, Chris Schneider driven “Brutus” entry will look to hold onto the number two points position after a very successful campaign this season.
Chuck Loftin vs Nick Poloson
Chuck Loftin, Steve Vang, Dustin Bradford hold spots in the Top 5 heading into competition and will be challenged by part time heavy hitters like Keith Jackson, Lyle Greenberg and the famed “Blue Max” driven by Ronny Young. It will be a flip top throwdown of epic proportion in San Antonio this weekend as the thrilling Funny Car Chaos series concludes its 2020 Championship season.
