The 42nd annual Kelly Services Night Under Fire at Summit Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio was another successful event put on by the Bader family. The show was another sellout as it drew well over, 40,000 fans to the grandstands! Billed as the largest single day event in drag racing, some of the major stars of the big show come here every year.
The grandstands at Summit Motorsports Park are sold out every year for Night Under Fire.
One of the racers that the crowd came to see is John Force. Fresh off of his 150th victory, John was one of 6 funny cars that came straight from Seattle. Also there was Ron Capps, Cruz Pedregon, Tim Wilkerson, Robert Hight and Dale Creasy, Jr. Robert Hight was the winner with a 3.91 over Ron Capps 3.96.

7 jet dragster thrilled the fans with side by side action as Ernie Bogue’s 5.24 bested Josh Graham’s 5.31. Corey Michalek and JP Gutierrez dueled in their Top Alcohol dragsters with with Michalek’s 5.31 over Gutierrez’ 5.38. Pro Mods, Super Bikes and Junior Dragsters were also featured.
The "Beast From The East" provided plenty of smoke and fire. One of seven jet dragsters competing in the Jet Car Nationals at Summit.
Wowing the fans were the ScottRods AA/Gassers with long smokey burn outs and their popular back-up girls. Micky Hale was the winner in the eighth mile battles over Ed Kasicki. The event was capped off with Bob Motz’ jet Kenworth truck burning down the sign at the head of the track. The finale was the signature Bader fireworks show.
This is one event that should surely be on everyone’s “must see” list. Next years show is August 8, 2020. “BE THERE”!
